From traditional pubs, working man clubs to classy cocktail bars, Garforth offers such choice, that you won’t know where to begin.
Great schools
Garforth has a whopping five primary schools to choose from, and four of them feeding into the well-regarded Garforth Academy. The high school has an outstanding reputation for many a year now and is situated in the heart of Garforth. There is also a Dance College, located off Main Street too.
Commuter links
Need to catch a train into Leeds or York? Not a problem, Garforth boasts two train stations, so travelling further afield isn’t a problem. In fact, the main Garforth train station offers car parking too, (and a delightful little Italian café on the platform too!). Wanting excellent motorway access? Again, Garforth ticks this box! There is direct access onto the A1/M1 motorways, with A64 and M62, together with major link road, they are only a short distance away.
Community spirit
Community is very much in the hearts of the people in Garforth, with the Garforth and District Lions club organising most events within the town. The Lions organise a large bonfire and fireworks event each year, which is particularly popular, along with the meet and greet of Santa who sits on his sleigh and visits the streets of Garforth. If pantos are your thing, then don’t miss out on the annual Christmas productions that the Welfare Hall offer each year.
Fresh air
There are several parks to choose from in Garforth too, Barley Hill Park, Firthfields, and large park on Ninelands Lane – Ninelands park is particularly popular due to the skate park there and rugby fields. Along with all the family friendly events that Garforth has to offer, in particular, G-FEST, is one to mention. This a growing music festival, held on Ninelands Park, and offers an excellent day out with live music, funfair, food and drinks stalls, whilst raising money for great charity.
Garforth also is a pretty football mad place to live! Garforth Town Association Football Club are members of the Northern counties east league premier division, and have a fabulous ground located on the outskirts of the town.
Slightly further afield from Garforth, there is a newly finished The Springs shopping and entertainment development, with large shopping chains, such as Next and Dunelm, together with an Odeon Lux cinema and crazy golf complex. Lotherton Hall and Temple Newsam estate and country parks are only a short distance away by car, and both offer a lovely country house to look around which is steeped in history. There is also a small farm at Temple Newsam and bird garden at Lotherton Hall.
